Conquest vs Expedition Skills in Kingshot
These are two completely separate skill systems on every hero. They do not share upgrades, do not activate in each other’s modes, and use different Skill Manuals. Mixing them up is one of the most common ways players waste resources.
| Aspect | Conquest Skills | Expedition Skills |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Use | Hero-vs-hero combat | Troop/squad combat on the world map |
| Where They Work | Conquest (Suppress) stages, Arena, Rebel Invasion / related modes | Rallies, marches, Bear Hunt, Mystic Trial, Castle/Sanctuary battles, most map events |
| What They Affect | The hero’s personal combat (damage, heals, stuns, buffs/debuffs on heroes) | Squad stats (Attack, Defense, Health, Lethality), rally performance, some city bonuses |
| Skill Count | Mythic: 3 base (+1 from Widget) Epic: 3 Rare: 2 | Mythic: 3 base (+1 from Widget) Epic: 2 Rare: 2 |
| Upgrade Resource | Conquest Skill Manuals only | Expedition Skill Manuals only |
| Key Notes | Ultimate (usually top-left) is especially important | First Expedition skill is critical for rally joiners (only that one typically contributes from joiners) |
| Widgets (Mythic) | Add 1 extra Conquest skill + stats | Add 1 extra Expedition skill + stats |

Core Differences Summarized
- Conquest = pure hero combat (no troops). Skills trigger automatically in auto-battles. Focus on personal damage, sustain, control, and team hero buffs.
- Expedition = squad/troop combat. Skills support or amplify the troops the hero leads or joins with. Many are percentage buffs to whole squads or the rally; some are chance-based procs. City development skills (construction, research, gathering, healing speed) are usually permanent once unlocked.
- Hero strength is mode-specific. A hero can be excellent in one and average in the other.
- For most progression (rallies, events, alliance activity), Expedition skills deliver more overall value. Conquest/Arena is still useful for daily gems and stage rewards.
Investment tip: Always check the skill icon/tab in the Heroes menu before spending manuals. Prioritize your core 3–5 heroes per mode rather than spreading upgrades thinly.
